Versatile and Powerful 6 Layer FR4 PCBs for Improved Performance

The performance of a PCB depends a great deal on the substrates, and the number of layers. A properly designed multilayer PCB can improve its manufacturability. It can also reduce crosstalk, electromagnetic emissions, and improve signal integrity. Compared to two layer PCBs, planes in multilayer PCBs can significantly reduce radiated emissions, less than 15 dB.

Build a PCB understands the advantages that multilayer PCBs can provide to electronic applications. We offer six layer FR4 PCBs to meet requirements of various industrial electronic applications.

6 Layer FR4 PCB Design

At Build a PCB, we understand that the quality of the PCB’s performance is dependent on the signal layers. We design the six layer board by adding two extra signal layers between the planes of a four layer board. The advantage of this design is there are two buried layers for high speed signals. Also, there are two surface layers, through which low speed signals can be routed.

When creating a multilayer PCB stackup, we ensure the following:

  • A signal layer is kept adjacent to a plane. This limits the number of signal layers embedded between planes to two.
  • The signal layers are tightly coupled with adjacent planes.
  • Both ground and power planes can be used as the signal’s return path. This is because the path of least inductance is closest to the plane.
